No 1 – Amazing Huntington Castle Wedding Photography

Holly  & Diego whom I photographed last year for their engagement photo-shoot in Dublin, decided on a Huntington Castle wedding this summer. What a venue…! Huntington Castle is firmly one of my favourite wedding venues in Ireland. It’s beautiful inside and out. It has expansive and varied grounds which offer great opportunities for capturing amazing wedding photographs. With a beautiful tree-lined canopy, outdoor rainy-day wedding photos are still possible without getting wet. Not that it rained on this particular day. Quite the opposite in fact.

Huntington Castle Wedding Photography – Holly & Diego

This is a wedding that I was really looking forward to as I knew Holly & Diego from working with them a year previously and they are a really super cool couple. Together with a lovely venue such as Huntington Castle and the fact that yet again I’d be working alongside familiar faces – Gavin & Ronan from Dreamcatcher Productions made it even more enjoyable. I recommend a few different videographers, Dreamcatchers being one of my recommendations.  As a photographer, I can’t stress how important it is to work with other professionals especially ones that you know and have worked with before. It makes the life of a wedding photographer and videographer so much easier on the day which ultimately results in better time management on the day and better wedding photographs and video.

The Wedding

Anyway, on to Holly and Diego’s Huntington Castle wedding…!!  This was a one stop shop so everything was happening at the castle. I started with the bridal preparations that were taking place in the beautiful rustic conservatory. Sun was shining and everybody was smiling – happy days..!! Holly along with her wedding planner had everything timed to perfection so hair and make-up ran like clockwork with no stress involved for anybody.

The lads were getting ready in the tower at Huntington castle, so Gavin and myself popped over there for a few minutes just before Diego suited up.  Diego – cool guy that he is, really proved to me the benefit of having his engagement shoot as he was super relaxed in front of the camera from the very start.

After the guys, it was back to the girls in the main castle where Holly was getting into her dress. Champagne, more laughs and then it was time to tie the knot..!

Holly and Diego choose an outdoor ceremony at Huntington in the ruins of an old abbey beside the castle. Perfect venue for the day and their number of guests.  It was a small intimate wedding as family and friends were flying in from largely the US and from Spain.  The sun was out for Holly as she walked up the aisle with her father looking absolutely stunning. More happy smiles..!!  🙂

They did it…!! Another Huntington Castle wedding accomplished..!  Congratulations..!

Then it was time for the bride and groom photos. The (good) problem with a Huntington Castle wedding is that there are too many options. We spent about an hour taking photos. Normally I wouldn’t take this long but we had the time, Holly and Diego were happy to spend it and we also used drones which take a bit longer to work with. Because Holly and Diego knew what to do from their previous engagement shoot, we were able to maximise our time together so there was no time wasted getting used to the camera.

Huntington Castle wedding photos done, it was some quick family and bridal party portraits before heading inside the castle where a traditional music session was taking place for the guests. After this, dinner was served across the courtyard in the beautiful little function room adjoining Huntington Castle tearooms.

We don’t often get this chance, but during dinner I noticed that there was a beautiful sunset outside. The sun won’t wait for anybody and fair play to Holly and Diego, they interrupted their dinner to spend 10 minutes outside whilst Gavin and myself captured them in beautiful golden sunlight. This doesn’t happen often but I really appreciate Holly and Diego giving us the time to photograph and film at what is the best time of the day for wedding photographs at their Huntington Castle wedding.

So, sunset photographs over and back inside to finish dinner. Cake cutting followed by some very funny and emotional speeches. Then party time at their Huntington Castle wedding…!
