A winter wedding in Rathsallagh House Wicklow was just one of two in a row weddings in Rathsallagh House that I had last Christmas – another blog to follow.
Sandra & Aindreas Wedding in Rathsallagh House
Sandra and Aindreas are just this fantastic couple who are incredibly obliging and easy to get on with. This was a winter wedding which always poses challenges for photography as it gets dark very early and ceremony times have to be brought forward and receiving lines have to be skipped. Nothing was an issue with these guys though. Both Sandra and Aindreas really wanted a natural approach to their wedding photographs with minimal posing which is exactly what my documentary wedding photography is all about.
So, that said, bridal prep started early that morning in the brides beautiful secluded family home in Wicklow. I’ll just say, thank God for Eircodes…!!
There was a great calm and Christmasy atmosphere and so bride and bridesmaids ready, it was onto a beautiful church in Donard where for the first time in 10 years shooting weddings in Ireland and the rest of Europe that I’ve had a priest invite the entire congregation onto the alter for the vows… Great to see a priest that strays from the norm and gets everybody involved. Then it was onto one of Wicklow’s best wedding venues Rathsallagh House for the reception. Nestled amongst huge grounds and it’s own golf course, Rathsallagh House offers a comfortable secluded environment full of character and great staff. Walled gardens, tennis courts and that famous tree. Only had a few minutes (12 to be precise) with the bride and groom due to falling light and the fact that it started raining as soon as we started their photos but both Sandra and Aindreas were happy to pop out later after the dinner in the rain for a few more night time photos in the courtyard. Unfortunately on this occasion wedding photos by the tree were not possible due to flooding and the fact that it was so wet the tree lights kept shorting out..
Sandra and Aindreas, congratulations again on your wedding day and I want to thank you for choosing me to be your Rathsallagh House Wedding Photographer. Had a gorgeous day with this couple and their wonderful venue.
