Destination Wedding Photographer – Wedding in Maartensdijk, The Netherlands

Here’s another of my European weddings as a destination wedding photographer covering all parts of Europe.

Destination Wedding Photographer – The Netherlands

When I first met Annemarie & Ruud in Utrecht, The Netherlands to talk about their wedding, one of the first  things the they told me was that this was going to be an emotional one. And so it was…!
As a photographer who is with the bride and groom for most part of the day, it can be hard not to become emotionally attached in some form but this one really pulled at the heartstrings.
Annemarie from England and Ruud who is Dutch are the sort of couple that you immediately warm to and feel comfortable with and so together with my friends from The Dreamers (videographers) we documented their wedding earlier this year.

Bridal preparations were in one of their beautiful homes in Soesterberg, Netherlands where some of her friends flew in from as far as Singapore to be there for her big day. As is Dutch tradition the groom arrived a little later in a beautiful vintage Porsche with the bouquet to collect Annemarie and whisk her off to the ceremony in nearby Maartensdijk.  This is a beautiful guesthouse which is licensed for marriage ceremonies. We had a little time to grab some relaxed photos with the bride and groom before all their guests arrived for the ceremony. Annemarie and Ruud wanted to trick their guests and decided to tell them that their ceremony would take place at a different venue. So when all their guests arrived for the ceremony all that was waiting was an old double decker London transport bus to ferry them off to their real venue in Maartensdijk…!! A FaceTime conversation on route to their guests assured them that all was going to be ok though..!

Very mixed wedding between a lot of English and Dutch family and friends but a really relaxed and that chilled out vibe was helped by their choice of venue and the beautiful April sunshine. It’s exactly what Annemarie and Ruud wanted for their guests. After a few hours it was back onto the bus which brought everybody back to their original destination Kastel de Voorge which is one of my favourite Dutch wedding venues. Here there were more guests, more drinks and then dinner and some emotional speeches.

My very best wishes to Annemarie and Ruud on their wedding. Here are just some photos from their day.
