Wedding at Barberstown Castle – Dublin Wedding Photographer

Carren and Noel had their wedding at Barberstown Castle. Barberstown Castle is one of the premier wedding venues in Kldare and is a favourite amongst Kildare and Dublin wedding photographers.  It’s lovely surroundings offer great opportunities for capturing amazing wedding photographs.

I think when I first received a call from Carren to see if I was available to photograph her wedding, I was in The Netherlands cycling a bicycle along a canal with my young daughter. Not the best place or time to talk to a potential client but (a little..) out of breath I explained how I work and I think she more or less booked me on the spot.

Fast forward about a year and it’s the big day for Carren and Noel in the lovely Barberstown Castle just outside Dublin. Both bride and groom got ready in the castle which is great as it means that I can pop over to the lads for a few minutes to capture their prep before they set off for the church or was it the pub….Yeah, the pub…

I had solemnly promised Carren sunshine on her wedding day (cos that’s the kinda silly things that I do) and YES we had sun. But unfortunately only in the morning. By the time we got to St Patrick’s church in Celbridge the wind had really got up which left most of the ladies clinging to their hats on the way in.

The Wedding

Carren arrived in a fantastic old vintage car with her dad looking stunning so after a few quick photos at the church door, the ceremony commenced.  Afterwards it was back to the nearby Barberstown Castle where the clouds started to unleash copious amounts of rainfall. We only managed to get a few minutes outdoors for photos which was so unfortunate as the grounds there are so wonderful. But as a documentary wedding photographer you go with the flow and keep capturing events, emotions, details…

A beautiful dinner was followed by genuinely hilarious speeches and then the dancing to music from The Usual Suspects.
