Raman and Jagdev travelled all the way from Canada for a holiday in Ireland and decided to have an engagement shoot at Malahide Castle. Being from Canada themselves, they’ve always dreamed of having a fairytale Irish castle as the setting for their engagement photographs. After spending a whirlwind few days exploring Dublin and the surrounding countryside they met up with me at Malahide Castle for their shoot.
Engagement Shoot at Malahide Castle
When Raman and Jagdev contacted me about photographing their engagement session at Malahide Castle, I was thrilled. As a wedding photographer, castle shoots are always a dream. Especially for couples travelling from abroad.
Malahide Castle is only 30 minutes from Dublin city centre. Easily accessible by taxi, rental car or by the DART (local rail). Malahide village itself is also worth a visit with loads of fabulous restaurants and some good Irish pubs. Anyway, back to the castle. It’s stunning backdrop with its stone architecture, turrets and woodlands. We met in the evening when the grounds were largely empty. Just the three of us and this beautiful location all to ourselves.
The woods surrounding the castle are ideal for romantic, whimsical photos. We started there, playing with the golden light filtering through the trees.
As the sun dipped below the treeline, the castle was bathed in a warm glow. We moved to the front entrance and finished the session there with the castle as the backdrop.
