Stunning Elopement in Co Wicklow

An elopement in Co Wicklow extending into the Dublin mountains is without doubt one of my favourite Irish locations for an elopement.

Yes, we have stunning scenery on the west coast of Ireland and all along the Wild Atlantic Way but we also have our fair share of beautiful scenery on the east coast also. A short drive from Dublin brings you right into the heart of some incredible rural scenery.

Tia and Tony flew in from the USA for their elopement in Co Wicklow and decided to venture out with me to soak in the mountains, valleys, forests and lakes of Wicklow and Dublin for their photos. If possible, I always try and schedule my elopements and engagement sessions for the final few hours before sunset as this is when the light is at it’s best and if we are on an elevated point, we have the chance of witnessing a beautiful sunset.. For Tia and Tony, this is exactly what happened. Happy days..!!

After picking them up from their hotel, we drove straight to Glendalough to photograph them in beautiful sun-filtered forests and against it’s incredible still lake. Oh and there is an ancient monastic settlement too which is steeped in history. This part was done in casual attire so after a quick change in a local hotel into proper wedding attire we set off for some climbing and walking around more vantage points in Wicklow and back towards Dublin.

By now the sun is getting lower and lower in the sky and starting to set. The wide open moors of the Dublin mountains offers the perfect backdrop for big scenic shots against the setting sun. We ended the session overlooking Lough Tay as the sun slipped beneath the horizon.

Absolutely perfect and it was an evening and elopement in Co Wicklow that both Tia and Tony will never forget.
