Returning from Australia for their wedding Doireann and Daire got married in Gorey, Co Wexford with their wedding reception in the Ashdown Park Hotel.

I Skype a lot. Actually an awful lot.. A large percentage of my wedding clients each year live abroad and this was the case with this couple – Doireann & Daire. Both Irish but living in Perth. And so we had the initial Skype call and they booked me to be their trusted, friendly and faithful local Irish wedding photographer. Roll on about a year and I eventually had the opportunity to meet Doireann & Daire in the flesh in Doireann’s native Wexford a little bit before their wedding day. Skype is great but meeting face to face is always so much better as for me, I can get to properly see how comfortable a couple is with each other and how they naturally interact. It’s just little things but they’re important as couples who are very comfortable with each other interact more naturally which makes for better photos on their wedding day.
When I arrived at Doireanns family home that morning I was greeted and instantly made feel like part of the family. The bridal preparations and the laughs were already underway as was a huge breakfast for everybody.
Daire was getting ready 10 minutes away in the hotel so I was able to pop over to him and the lads for a short while for more laughs. Yup – you laugh a lot in this job..
After the church ceremony all 250 or so guests piled into a pub across the road for just that one little one. Only in Ireland and it’s part of what I love about Irish weddings – the affection wedding guests have for small Irish country pubs. So some great times amongst the fun, drinks and laughter in a tiny pub before heading to the wonderfully more spacious Ashdown Park Hotel for the reception, dinner and dancing.
