Stunning and Elegant Wedding at Belleek Castle, Co Mayo

Philippa and Ronan chose to have their wedding at Belleek Castle Co Mayo.  Belleek Castle is probably one of the best wedding venues in Mayo and is a favourite amongst Mayo wedding photographers.  It’s beautiful, expansive and varied grounds offer great opportunities for capturing amazing wedding photographs.

Wedding at Belleek Castle of Philippa & Ronan

Belleek castle in Co Mayo is a stunning Irish castle venue with extensive grounds and was the location for the wedding of Philippa & Ronan. Both bride & groom wanted a venue where their family and friends could just chill out over the course of a weekend and also one which offered lovely photographic opportunities. Boy did it deliver….

Preparations took place in the castle for both bride and groom which made it easy for me to spend a little time with the guys before heading back to the bridal preparations just in time to capture the dress going on. The lovely intimate ceremony has held downstairs in a beautiful candlelit wood panelled room with a gallery where an overflow of guests could watch the proceedings and capture a great view.

After the “I do’s” where all said and done, guests mingled to a champagne reception and canapes before a group photo at the front door. After that, Philippa, Ronan and I went for a walk to get some photographs.  Weather was warm and slightly overcast but that made it perfect for photographs. Both Philippa and Ronan were happy to spend a bit longer than usual for their photo session as photos are really important to them. So we took a bit more time capturing some great images in the wonderful grounds of the castle before meeting up with the bridal party for some quick bridal party photos. Then a few family portraits and it was back to champagne and chatting to guests before the calling for dinner.

Dinner is held in an old cellar like room with a distinctive medieval atmosphere. With the guests happily seated for their dinner, it was speeches first and then the meal was served. We had time for a few dusk photos with the bride & groom before the dancing started and things really took off.

The day flew by and I had a great time working at this wedding. At the time of writing this, Philippa and Ronan are choosing their favourite photographs for their album which I know is going to be stunning. Looking forward to working on the design of that now..!!
