Lakeside Love & Laughter: Emma & Rob’s Gorgeous Tulfarris Hotel Wedding!
I’m buzzing to share a peek into a truly fantastic wedding I had the pleasure of photographing recently – the brilliant day of Emma and Rob at the stunning Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort in Co. Wicklow.
Seriously, what a day! From the moment I arrived, the vibe was just electric. Emma and Rob are one of those couples who just radiate happiness, and their connection is so genuine and easy to see. Capturing their story felt less like work and more like being a guest with a really good camera (okay, a few really really good cameras! And lenses.).
My Approach: Telling Your Real Story
As many of you know, my style is primarily documentary wedding photography. What does that mean for you? It means less awkward posing and more capturing the real, unscripted moments that make your wedding day yours. It’s about the nervous giggle before the ceremony, the squeeze of a hand during the vows, the eruption of laughter during the speeches, the crazy shapes on the dance floor – all those little interactions and big emotions that tell the true story of your celebration.
Emma and Rob’s wedding was a perfect example of why I love shooting this way. Their day was filled with so much laughter, happy tears, and heartfelt moments between them, their families, and friends. My goal was to blend into the background and capture that authentic joy without interrupting the natural flow. Of course, we still grabbed some beautiful portraits, taking advantage of the incredible scenery Tulfarris offers, but the heart of the day lies in those candid captures.
Tulfarris Hotel Wedding: A Photographer’s Dream Location
Speaking of Tulfarris – wow! If you’re currently venue hunting, this place needs to be on your list. Nestled beside the breathtaking Blessington Lakes and surrounded by rolling Wicklow hills, the location itself is a gift for wedding photography.
Why is it so great for photos?
- The Scenery: Honestly, you’re spoiled for choice. You’ve got the dramatic backdrop of the lakes and mountains, the beautifully manicured golf course greens, charming pathways, and the historic 18th-century Manor House. This variety means your Tulfarris wedding photos can have so many different looks and feels, all within one location.
- The Light: Whether it’s soft natural light flooding through the windows of the hotel or the golden hour glow over the lake, Tulfarris seems to catch the light beautifully at different times of the day.
- Space to Breathe: There’s plenty of room for guests to mingle and enjoy themselves, which means more opportunities for me to capture those natural, relaxed interactions that are the core of documentary photography. We wandered down towards the lake for some stunning shots of Emma and Rob, using that incredible landscape without feeling rushed or hemmed in.
Capturing Emma & Rob’s Magic
From the heartfelt ceremony to the lively reception, Emma and Rob’s day was pure magic. Seeing their Tulfarris Hotel wedding photos come together, filled with genuine smiles and real moments against such a gorgeous backdrop, was incredibly rewarding. It’s a reminder of why I love being an Ireland wedding photographer – getting to witness and preserve these incredible milestones for amazing couples.
