Gorgeous Summer Wedding at Ballybeg House Wicklow
The sun was shining as I arrived at Ballybeg House to start photographing the bridal preparations for Robyn and her bridesmaids. This venue looks incredible regardless of the light but the day started and remained perfect throughout. Our groom Stephen was getting ready close by in Grouse Lodge with the lads so I was able to pop over to him for a short time before making my way back to the girls.
Weddings are happy occasions but this one just had an extra ommph I think down to the enthusiasm of both bride and groom and of the various bridal party and immediate family members. It was terrific – 100% laughs all day and zero stress at any point. Robyn was also a wedding planner in a previous life so she was well aware of all the challenges of a wedding day. In terms of planning, scheduling and adding all the little details that make a day so special and unique – she absolutely nailed it. Fair play..!
The Wedding
Their emotional civil ceremony was held in the famous rustic barn where all the bridesmaids performed a song. Some beautiful talent and a gesture that really made it more unique and personal to both Robyn and Stephen. Afterwards it was time to kick back, celebrate with the guest and get some photos.
Highlight of the day (well there were many) but for me it was during the speeches when Stephen broke out into song followed by a flashmob who joined in. Robyn’s reaction was priceless and there were many wet eyes around the tables…
This was an awesome one and it was an honour to be present and document Robyn and Stephen’s day.
Below are just a small sample of the images from their day.

Final Thoughts
Ballybeg House really comes into its own in summer. The gardens and forested trails open up in the warmer months, and there’s a lovely flow to the day — ceremony, drinks on the lawn, then dancing under the marquee, all without anyone needing to leave the grounds. The Victorian-style ceremony room is a beautiful option if the weather doesn’t cooperate, but on a good day the outdoor spots are hard to beat.
As a photographer, it’s one of my favourite venues to shoot — the light is beautiful, the grounds are varied enough that no two photos look the same, and the whole place has a relaxed energy that comes through in the pictures.
