Summer Wedding at Willies Bar – The Village Barn

Combine a lovely unique, alternative, rustic wedding venue along with a brilliantly laid back and sound couple and you get a great wedding day experience. This was my first time to shoot a wedding at The Village Barn and I was delighted when Gillian and Dermot came along and booked me. It didn’t disappoint in any way.

I started for a short time with Dermot just outside the village of Tyrrellspass where he was getting ready along with a lovely vintage bottle of whiskey. 🙂

I left Dermot to join up with Gillian and the bridesmaids at the Mullingar Park Hotel where they were opening the Champagne. It was going to be a good day…! 🙂 Everybody in brilliant form with no panic or stress.

Their ceremony was to be a civil ceremony in the Village Barn and then drinks on the lawn afterwards before dinner. I think the only way to describe The Village Barn is to actually look at the photos as words (my words anyway) cannot do it justice. It’s a venue where I’d really love to be a guest chilling out at a wedding rather than working behind a camera. It has a lovely old country charm about it. Loads of different crooks and crannies to explore. Different quirky places to sit and enjoy the day.

Gillian and Dermot had games set up on the lawns as there were quite a few children (and adults who like to think they’re still children) at the wedding.

With everything on your doorstep, myself and the brilliant Gintas from Pilgrim Films only needed a very short time with both bride and groom for their photos. Only a couple of family photos requested also as my main aim was to get those natural shots of their guests.

My time had come to an end far too early. I’d have loved to stay on for longer and I don’t say that about too many venues.
