Imagine celebrating your special day with a beautiful winter wedding at the Wee Blue Church Kilternan.
From saying “I do” in the cozy little blue church tucked away on the outskirts of Dublin to sharing the first dance together as husband and wife at one of the top luxurious hotels in the city.
Let me tell you about my amazing experience photographing this gorgeous winter wedding. So join me for an intimate look into this stunning winter wedding located at Our Lady of The Wayside Church in Kilternan followed by a glamorous reception at The College Green Hotel in Dublin city.
On a wedding morning, the bridal preparations are often chaotic and filled with excitement. However, in Stepaside, Dublin, where Rachael was getting ready with her 3 bridesmaids, the excitement was present and building but all was calm.
The girls kicked off the morning by having their hair and makeup done first thing. Rachael then got into her dress helped by her mum and bridesmaids and loked absolutely amazing.
The lads meantime were getting ready a short drive away in Kilmacud and it was great that I got a chance to photograph a small part of it.
Meantime, guests were gathering at the wee Blue Church in Kilternan. This was a cold and frosty day with snow still on the ground from a few days previous. Natural light streaming through the windows and illuminating the church was a bonus for what could easily have been a dull overcast winters day.
Rachael arrived with her dad looking amazing and the ceremony began.
The beautiful Iveagh Gardens in Dublin were the chosen location for Rachael & Nick’s photos. It was freezing but dry and with a setting sun, we had lovely soft winter light to work with. We also practically had the entire park to ourselves which is always a plus. My goal with any couple shoot, is to keep things moving. So working fast but knowing precisely what I want to achieve whilst keeping my couple comfortable and confident that we were getting great photos. Keeping everything flowing, not only means that I don’t need a lot of time for my shoots, but it helps keep everybody warm…!
Job done it was straight to The College Green Hotel where I launched immediately into the required family photos before I went back into full documentary mode for the reception, speeches and dancing.
Thankfully however Rachael and Nick were totally up for popping out onto the streets for a few nighttime photos Hollywood style. Again, it was even colder than earlier but we kept it quick.
I want to say a huge thanks to Rachael and Nick for choosing me to be their wedding photographer. Absolutely loved this one. Every year I’ll have at least one winter or Christmas wedding at the Westin Dublin and it’s always one to look forward to. This was no exception.
