bride and groom kissing in front of an irish castle

The most genuinely nicest, down to earth couple ever. That’s what I immediately realised when I met Susie and Sam for the first time in 2017 before they booked me to be their Markree Castle wedding photographer.

I figured that this was going to be an enjoyable wedding and boy was I right. An absolute dream couple from the start, it was an absolute pleasure to work with them up to and on the day of their wedding. I was hired to document their full day and one of my favourite videographers Kevin from Little Bear Films joined me. We started in the Sligo Park Hotel where both bride and groom were getting ready. Everything was nice and relaxed and thankful that it would not be a wet day despite being heavily overcast.

Once Susie was ready, she jumped into a beautiful vintage car with her dad and headed to St Brigid’s Church in Ballisodare. This is a lovely bright church that I’ve worked in before and I knew the parish priest also which helps..! So Susie and Sam tied the knot to great applause from their family and guests after which the sun made a brief appearance.

After a brief time in the church yard greeting their wedding guests, we departed to the magnificent Markree Castle. This was an autumn wedding and being so overcast we were anxious to get their photographs done before we lost the light. So as soon as we arrived, we set out for a walk with the bride and groom. Both Kevin and I work in a very relaxed style and it’s a case of us both working together and also individually for a couple of minutes with the couple each time. The emphasis is on ensuring that the couple is comfortable and enjoying the time though as ultimately if they are relaxed and enjoying their photo/video session, this will come across in the photos and film footage. Needless to say, our dream couple were fantastic to work with and before long our time was up and it was time to get stuck into the family photos and photos of the bridal party and some of Susie and Sam’s close friends. All that done, we had enough time to mingle with their guests and get a few drone shots of the wonderful castle and grounds before the dinner bell sounded.

Speeches, a few night time photographs and then a little time photographing the dance moves and both my time and Kevin’s came to an end.

I want to wish Susie and Sam the very best and to thank them for being such incredible clients. Am looking forward to getting started on their album..!
