Kilronan Castle Wedding

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a dream wedding at an Irish castle? As a wedding photographer, I get a glimpse into the intimate moments and tiny details that make each couple’s big day uniquely their own. Recently I had the pleasure of photographing Corrine and Mark’s fairytale wedding at the stunning Kilronan Castle in Roscommon.

From bridesmaids zipping up Corrine’s gown and buttoning those final pearl buttons to Mark nervously fiddling with his cufflinks as he waits at the altar, the morning of their wedding was filled with excitement and emotion. After a touching ceremony at the nearby church in Keadue, we whisked the newlyweds off to the shores of Lough Meelagh for breathtaking photos with their bridal party. As day turned to night, the celebration moved into the castle itself, where heartfelt speeches and a first dance under the twinkling lights of the ballroom capped off Corrine and Mark’s perfect day. A final nighttime photo in front of the castle was the ideal ending to this real-life fairy tale.

Behind the Scenes: Capturing Corrine & Mark’s Special Day

On the morning of Corrine and Mark’s wedding, I arrived at the stunning Kilronan Castle to photograph Corrine and her bridesmaids as they got ready in the bridal suite. The weather was great so I popped a drone up to get a couple of establishing shots of this amazing venue. Onwards to the castle and the bridal prep. The room was filled with excitement as Corrine read a letter from her groom before getting into her gorgeous dress and veil. I captured loads of candid moments of laughter and a few happy tears.

After the ceremony at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Mary, we headed to a picturesque jetty near the castle for portraits of the newlyweds and their wedding party.

We then headed back to the castle to join all their guests for the outdoor reception in the glorious hot sunshine. Myself and Tim from DC Media Films spent a short time with Corrine and Mark on the castle grounds for their bridal portraits before rejoining guests for speeches. These were held outside before the meal. A great idea for any summer wedding.

After their first dance when it had got dark enough, we slipped around to the front of the castle (by now illuminated by floodlights) for a final bride and groom night-time shot.

Though my time with them had come to an end, their adventure together was only just beginning. Witnessing the start of their forever at this fairytale location was a privilege I will always cherish.
