It was a beautiful summer wedding for Jessica and John which ended in an amazing sunset for this Killashee House Hotel Wedding. Here’s a glimpse using a few photos of how the day went…
Killashee House Hotel Wedding
Killashee House Hotel in Naas, Co. Kildare is one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph — and Jessica and John’s day is a perfect example why. I shoot in a natural, documentary style, which means I’m not stopping the day to stage photos; I’m there capturing it as it actually happens. That’s exactly how we ended up with one of the best sunsets I’ve photographed all year — a spontaneous few minutes between courses that neither of us planned for.
Everything kicked off with Jessica’s preparations that morning in Dublin. It was a lovely bright and sunny morning with a real casual relaxed vibe. Jessica was calm and as cool as a cucumber during the prep and she had everything timed to perfection. It was a brilliant start to the day.

After I was done with the bridal preparations, it was onto St Dominic Church in Tallaght for the ceremony. Here I met up with John and the groomsmen before the guests started to arrive.

Then it was the bridesmaids and Jessica’s time to arrive before the ceremony got underway.

Finally it was onto to Killashee House Hotel for the wedding reception.

Soon it was time for the dinner bell and once everybody was seated, the speeches began.

Spectacular sunsets at a Killashee House Hotel wedding
It doesn’t often happen that we have a sunset on a wedding day. Generally when it does the meal is in full swing or we are in the middle of the speeches rendering it impossible. However, today we had a spectacular sunset and with speeches over it was just a matter of asking Jessica and John if they wanted to nip outside for a few minutes for a walk in a field. It was in between courses and the hotel didn’t mind. Thankfully they said yes…!! Here’s some of what we got in a matter of minutes.

Then what happens after sunset – a torrential downpour…! Just as we lit the sparklers. Disaster….!! Quickly averted by running to the nearest doorway for shelter before the flames ran out…

All that was left was the dancing.

What wedding photography style does David Duignan shoot? A natural, documentary approach — capturing real moments as they unfold rather than heavily posed or staged shots, built on nearly two decades photographing Irish weddings.
Where is Killashee House Hotel? Killashee House Hotel is in Naas, Co. Kildare, with easy motorway access from Dublin — one reason it’s such a popular reception venue for couples getting married in the East of Ireland.
Thank you so much to Jessica and John for choosing me to be their photographer at their wedding in the Killashee House Hotel. It was an absolute pleasure working with you both and at this wonderful Kildare Hotel wedding venue.
