A few weeks ago I received an email from Nick who was planning on an engagement proposal to his girlfriend whilst on a short holiday in Dublin. He wanted to capture the event and had seen similar shoots that I’d previously blogged about. Happy to oblige, I confirmed my availability and we scheduled a Skype call to discuss a plan of action.
Surprise Engagement Proposal in St Stephens Green Dublin
So Nick and Marie are both from the USA and Nick had won a trip to Dublin through his work. Really wanting to create something special for his proposal, he decided to also surprise and buy his girlfriend a plane ticket to Dublin. Confident that she would say YES, we decided that St Stephens Green would be an ideal spot and we set a time and excuse for Nick to get Marie into the park with me hot on their heels. She had no ideal…!! The time came and it was a beautiful day with lovely afternoon winter sunshine. Nick led Marie onto a quiet grassy spot and whilst I hid behind a tree, he dropped onto one knee and popped the question. These moments are incredible and so friggin emotional – it is always an honour to be part of it. After Marie said Yes, we did a quick photo shoot in the park before Nick and Marie disappeared off into the sunset to celebrate. I sent them a few photos that evening so they could quickly post some images to their friends and family and then I had the rest of their gallery ready for them a few days later.
Always a pleasure to photograph such a special moment and I know that Nick and Marie will treasure these proposal photos forever.
